Chapter-18, Verse 11

Ashtavakra Gita Verse 18.11:

स्वाराज्ये भैक्ष्यवृत्तौ च लाभालाभे जने वने ।
निर्विकल्पस्वभावस्य न विशेषोऽस्ति योगिनः ॥ ११ ॥

In sovereignty or begging, in gain or loss, in society or forest; For one whose nature is free from distinctions, there is no difference, O yogi.

The verse describes the State of a Yogi who has realized his True Nature as the Pure Awareness that is beyond all dualities and distinctions. Such a Yogi is not affected by the external conditions of life, whether they are favorable or unfavorable, pleasant or unpleasant, social or solitary. He is content and peaceful in any situation, because he knows that his essence, the Self, is the same as the Supreme Reality that pervades all things.

The verse also implies that the Yogi does not identify with his body, mind, or ego, which are subject to change and suffering. He does not cling to any worldly possessions, achievements, or relationships, which are transient and illusory. He does not depend on any external sources of happiness, security, or validation, which are unreliable and impermanent. He is self-sufficient and independent, relying only on his own inner wisdom and bliss.

The verse also suggests that the Yogi does not have any preferences, attachments, or aversions, which are the causes of bondage and ignorance. He does not seek or avoid anything, but accepts everything as it is, without judgment or resistance. He does not discriminate or differentiate between anything, but sees everything as a manifestation of the same Reality. He does not have any sense of duality or separation, but experiences everything as his own Self.

Similar verses from Vedic texts are:

Bhagavad Gita 6.10:

योगी युञ्जीत सततमात्मानं रहसि स्थितः ।एकाकी यतचित्तात्मा निराशीरपरिग्रहः ॥

The true Yogi should be in Constant (satatam) Remembrance (yunjita) of the Self (atmanam); developing (sthitah) internal solitude (ekaki); keeping the mind steady (yata chhittatma); staying away from desires (nirasir); and
possessiveness (aparigrahah).

This is my personal favourite Verse from the Bhagavad-Gītā and is the key to the Spiritual journey.

Mundaka Upanishad 3.2.4:

न कर्मणा न प्रजया धनेन त्यागेनैके अमृतत्वमानशुः । परेण नाकं निहितं गुहायां विभ्राजते यद्यतयो विशन्ति ॥

Not by actions, nor by progeny, nor by wealth, but by renunciation alone some attained immortality.
That which shines in the Highest Heaven, hidden in the Cave of the Heart, that the seers enter.

Yogavashishta 6.2.34:

नास्ति बन्धो न मोक्षो न च संसारो न चापि परम् । एकं विज्ञानमात्रं विद्धि तत्त्वं यदि च्छसि शान्तिम् ॥

There is no bondage, no liberation, no samsara, no Supreme.
Know that there is only Pure Consciousness, if you desire Peace.
